Last Regiment Patch Update – Additions and Fixes A Plenty

It is another crunchtime week for us here at Boomzap as we are getting everything ready for the Early Access of Last Regiment. More announcements will be released in the upcoming weeks so be sure to follow our social media platforms as well as in our Discord. You are very free to discuss about it in our designated channels.

Chris is out this week so there will be no dev stream. However, our good news is that we have updated our Steam build. 

Beta Steam Build – July 29, 2019

 

Mechanic Changes

1.) Added more instances for mouseover to get additional unit or power information throughout the game.

2.) Changed the highlight color for a currently selected tile.

 

Unit Changes

1.) Unit stats have been adjusted to better differentiate units.

2.) Elite Unit bonus stats have been overhauled. For more information, the Upgrade Unit power can be hovered to reveal a Unit’s Elite Version.

3.) Reduced HP of Plant units to balance out them having passive HP regen.

 

Campaign Changes

1.) Updated/Reworked Missions 3, 4, 5, and 6 for Olivia’s Campaign.

2.) Updated tutorial text and icons for Olivia’s Campaign.

 

UI Changes

1.) Updated Emblem UI to make the samples larger and updated their groupings.

2.) Updated info popups so they use the same size and fonts.

3.) Updated Banner Elements that show up while waiting for other players in Multiplayer.

 

Bug Fixes

1.) Updated descriptions for some traits and powers for better readability. No functional change has happened.

2.) Fortification meeple indicator have been hidden until a unit actually uses the Fortify action.

3.) Fixed sliders on UI to now properly update when scrolling.

4.) Highlighted tiles now appear red when trying to summon a unit while CP capped.

5.) Fixed the issue where a card still shows it can be played even if you don’t have enough resources.

6.) Fixed certain blockers tiles not having animations (i.e. Waterfalls and Lava).

7.) Fixed issue with card target text not being updated properly.

8.) Fixed missing description for Multicard entries.

9.) Fixed issue about being able to summon more than one instance of Unique Units.

Last Regiment Patch Update – It’s Crunch Time (Part 2!)

We are back giving you some updates on our beta build for Last Regiment. Chris was at PocketGamer Connects Hong Kong last week so there was no dev stream. However, we are happy to share the latest patch update that was implemented Monday, July 22, 2019. Those who have beta keys to the game can start updating to the latest build. Here are the things we’ve changed and added.

Mechanic Changes

1.) Embarked units can no longer traverse Deep Water terrain.

2.) Fortify badge only shows up when a unit has used the Fortify action.

3.) Added support to show “Road” on lower left side when a tile with a road has been highlighted.

4.) Added 2 preset regiments for each hero.

Campaign Changes

1.) Updated Mission 1, 2, 3, and 5 for Olivia’s Campaign.

Note: Mission 4 and 6 are still being worked on.

Unit Changes

1.) Added new unit – Town Guard.

Note: Town Guard is still using placeholder art.

Power Changes

1.) Added Woodland and Wetland Regeneration for Plant units.

2.) Different levels of Flanking and Support icons have been updated for easier recognition.

Bug Fixes

1.) Fixed issue with AI where their units would automatically embark and still be able to move on to land terrain while embarked.

2.) Fixed structure health bar issue not showing the proper values when a unit is on top of a structure.

3.) Replaced some placeholder icons and effects for some powers.

Last Regiment Dev Blog and Patch Update – It’s Crunch Time!

Time for another Last Regiment update as we are just a few weeks away until Early Access on Steam. It’s literally crunch time for us here.

Stream Highlights

On last week’s stream, Chris is still in Singapore at Boomzap’s VR Studio and shared that everyone is working double time getting ready for the Early Access release. The primary highlight this week is the introductory part of the game: the tutorial.

There have been some rework and a couple of discussions in regards to the tutorial. To make it not only something for first time players to get to know about the game’s lore, but also showing how everything works while keeping the fun going. The rest of the stream continues with him discussing about the “emotional side of being a game developer” and making the game’s pace faster especially on multiplayer games. Halfway through the stream, he is joined in with the Last Regiment game design team going through the campaigns.

Beta Steam Build – July 15, 2019

 

The Steam build has been recently updated. Here are the things we’ve added and changed.

Mechanic Changes

1.) Updated Defend and Fortify indicators.

2.) Player Position and Color can now be chosen separately.

3.) Added zoom function for Map Preview via Scroll Wheel.

4.) Added mouse over info preview for Buildings.

 

Campaign Changes

1.) Fixed issue for the missing Port on Olivia’s 1st mission.

2.) Reworked Olivia’s 2nd and 3rd missions.

Note: Other missions are still WIP.

 

Unit Changes

1.) All Aerial units have had their movement changed to 3 from 4.

2.) Added new unit Tree of Life.

3.) Added new Draw Card power for Merchants.

Note: Placeholder art are still being used for new units.

 

Power/Card Changes

1.) Replaced Awaken the Forest card with Life Tree.

2.) Added new Scavenger, Dying Wish, and Transform Mana, and Promote cards.

3.) Updated New Plans effect to only draw 3 cards.

4.) Updated Abundant Stock to be only playable on Towns.

5.) Updated Cargo to be only playable on Ports.

6.) Updated High Ground trait to include +1 Sight Range.

7.) Updated Welcomed Rest to include Snare effect on Unit.

8.) Added new Nature’s Touch healing power to Druids.

9.) Updated dice roll ranges for Raze and Repair with linear ranges.

Note: Placeholder art are still being used for new cards/powers.

 

Structure Changes

1.) Structures now start from 1-star and can be upgraded to 3-stars.

 

Map Changes

1.) All Terrains do not block line of sight anymore.

 

Bug  Fixes

1.) Fixed issue where certain units can be summoned anywhere on the map.
